Clepper, Ellis Wesley

October 7, 2018
Ellis Wesley Clepper, age 77 of Hockley, passed away October 7, 2018. The Addison
family and staff of Magnolia Funeral Home extend condolences to his family and friends
during this difficult time.

Loyal customer of Whataburger, Ellis Wesley Clepper was born in Houston, Texas January 14, 1941, and went to be with Jesus on October 7, 2018. As we look back over his life it has been an adventure. He grew up in Hockley, Texas and graduated Waller High School in 1959 where he played on a bi-district championship football team and was named most handsome and best mannered. Ellis joined the Air Force and served in Vietnam. Upon returning from serving his country he became an entrepreneur starting and operating several businesses with his lifelong companion and wife of almost 49 years, Lois. In business one of his greatest achievements was opening the first roofing supply company in the United States, but his crowning achievements were the relationships he made on his way. Ellis had a heart as big as Texas when it came to helping others and often gave of himself so that others would have whatever they needed be it a job, a place to stay or even a vehicle. Ellis was a doer and a giver. He loved the Lord and attended Faith Assembly of God in Houston, Texas for over 30 years before moving back to Hockley and finding Champion Cowboy Church which he loved and attended for 15 years. Ellis loved hunting especially in Colorado and he loved traveling, which includes his most recent trip to Israel in the Spring. Ellis enjoyed his livestock, unsweet tea and working hard. Ellis is preceded in death by his parents Wesley Clepper and Ada Johnson, his siblings Verlie, Ventis, Harvey, Cecil, and Ethylene; wife Lois Lazenby Clepper. Ellis is survived by wife Emily Mosley Bullard Clepper; his sister Susan Sutton-Pool; children Charlie Goodson and wife Jennifer, Leanne Kuciemba and husband Chris, and Tonia Brown and husband Paul; grandchildren Justin Goodson and wife Jessica, Travis Goodson and wife Caitlin, Aslyn Kuciemba, Ayden Kuciemba, Karston Kuciemba, Seth Brown, Cy Brown & Amos Wesley Brown, Alyssa and Robert La Point and Koty and Tori Bullard; Great grandchildren Mila and Oliver Goodson; step children Kerry Bullard and wife Julie, Kristi Bullard, Holly Pritchard, Tommy Cross and wife Kristina; Charles Cross and his wife Tracy and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Ellis’ life will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at Champion
Cowboy Church officiated by his son Rev Charlie Goodson. Interment will be held at
Springer Cemetery in Hockley, TX followed by a social gathering back at the Champion
Cowboy Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM on Saturday,

Clayton, Dorothy “Dottie” Wied

(May 09, 1946 – January 28, 2022)

Dottie Clayton, May 9, 1946 – January 28, 2022
Dorothy Loraine (Wied) Clayton was born May 9, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas to Harvey and Gracy (Thompson) Wied. The oldest of four siblings, Dottie was a born student and educator, and loved spending time reading and learning, both on her own and with
her siblings.

Dottie graduated as valedictorian from Somerset High School in Somerset, Texas. She was awarded an academic scholarship to Sam Houston State University, where she achieved her dream and earned a bachelor’s degree in Education.

While at Sam Houston State University, Dottie met her future husband Jack Woodrow ‘Woody’ Clayton, and they married on September 3, 1966. Dottie and Woody had two children, Jeffrey and Laura, to whom Dottie passed on her love of reading and education, taking them to the library weekly to check out big brown paper bags full of books, playing school when they were young, and then homeschooling them when they
were older.

Dottie taught elementary school in San Antonio and Houston, and in 2005 began teaching middle and high school science classes to homeschoolers in the Katy area. Dottie loved finding new and exciting experiments for her students, and held annual events, such as Mole Day and Snail Olympics, that her students looked forward to each year.

In addition to being a schoolteacher, Dottie faithfully taught Sunday School throughout the years, sharing her love of Jesus with others. Dottie truly embodied Jesus’ words to “love your neighbor as yourself,” and loved others deeply and with empathy. She unconditionally loved her family (both human and canine), friends, students, and even those she encountered in day-to-day life, always providing a sympathetic ear and
support.

Dottie is survived by her husband, Woody Clayton, of Katy, Texas; children and children-in-law who she loved as her own, Jeffrey Clayton and Kristi Bonkowski of Kingwood, Texas, and Laura and William Tunningley of Stillwater, Oklahoma; siblings Graham and Esther Wied, Andy and Judy Wied, and Mary and Ray Arnold; nieces and nephews; and countless friends and former students. Dottie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Harvey and Gracy Wied, who assuredly were waiting at the pearly gates to welcome her into heaven, where she was told by God, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
There will be a funeral service for immediate family, with a Celebration of Life service to follow in the future (details to come)
