On Tuesday, August 25th, 2020, Charlie (Chuck) Edwin Martin passed away at the age of 84. He was born on December 13, 1935 in Natchitoches, Louisiana to Charlie and Edith (Green) Martin. His childhood years were spent in different cities in Louisiana, but he attended high school in Las Vegas, Nevada, where his dad was working at the time. At the age of 18, he joined the United States Coast Guard and proudly served for 8 years. He learned in those years of service, to always be prepared, a life lesson he tried to instill in others. He was a resident of Terrytown, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans, for 36 years, where he raised his family. Chuck worked in the security business and the oilfield industry in his early years in New Orleans and established his own hot shot and moving businesses.

On Valentine’s Day in 1981, he married Gwen Watson and began their almost 40 years together. For 22 years, they attended the First Pentecostal Church of New Orleans. There he served in many ministries including ushering and hosting the men’s prayer breakfast. In 2003, Gwen’s job with Exxon moved them to the Houston area. Chuck, until the time of his death, and Gwen have been members of the Living Way Church of Conroe, Texas.

Chuck had many loves in his long life. He was a dog-lover and had numerous rescues over the years that became cherished family members. His latest pal, Buddy, is missing his “buddy” terribly. Chuck also loved sports, especially football, baseball, and softball. He spent many years coaching, teaching the game, and encouraging his players to be the best they could be. For several years he coached the Terrytown Rattlers, a youth football team, where many of his kids went on to play high school ball. Chuck was an avid outdoorsman. He was out on the water as often as he could be, fishing, crabbing and gigging flounder. He also loved motorcycles and rode well into his seventies. Chuck loved to talk! He was a great storyteller and could easily start a conversation with anyone near him. He told stories of his life to anyone who would listen and even some who didn’t really want to listen! His stories were of the experiences and people he met in his many jobs, his time in the military, his family, and how the number 13 was significantly woven throughout his life (born on the 13th of December at 4:13am, 13 letters in his name, both parents born in 1913, first son born on 13th of October, and many, many more). He also would talk to folks about the Lord and those conversations always ended with an invitation to church.

 Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charlie; his mother, Edith, and sister, Alice.

He is survived by his loving wife and care-giver of 39 years, Gwen Watson Martin; his sisters, Mary Roberson and Merle Kaderli (Clifton) and his five children, Edith Tranchina (Paul), Ronnie Martin (Samantha), Joed Martin (Diane), Buddy Martin (Laura) and Belinda Ganson (Les). He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren, Andrey (Andrea), Brooke (Fred), Candace (John), Mindy (Chip), Madison, Shane, Ashlyn, Jared (Erika), Haley, Ian, Lanie, Lexie, Sydney and Leland; his 10 great grandchildren, Kai, Eliana, Adeline, Alden, Evan, Blake, Ethan, Kaylee, Cruz, and Cami, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends for a visitation from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2020 and a service to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Living Way Church, 2200 Longmire Road, Conroe, Texas. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery, 26000 Springer, Cemetery Rd., Hockley, Texas 77447.

n lieu of flowers, Chuck requested that donations be made to Living Way Church to be dedicated to foreign missions. The family requests that all visitors please wear their masks and practice social distancing for everyone’s benefit and safety. Melvin R. McMillon, 68, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 30, 2015 in Houston, Texas. He was born on April 3, 1946 at Heights Hospital in Houston, Texas to Homer and Mary McMillon. Mel grew up in the Heights, where he played sports, attended North Main Baptist Church and was a member of the Boy’s Club and Boy Scouts of American. He graduated from Reagan High School in 1964 and later attended Massey Business College.

Mel worked for Deluxe Check Printers for 27 years and when the facility closed down in Houston, Mel continued to work several more years in the printing industry at The Premier Company.

Mel loved the Lord, his family and his friends. He was a master gardener and enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, sports, reading and doing crossword puzzles.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers Manning and Haskell McMillon. He is survived by his loving wife, Judi McMillon; his son, Darrell McMillon and wife Angie; his grandchildren, Austin, Ashlyn, Alyssa and Dalton McMillon; and other loving relatives and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 until 8pm on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Brookside Funeral Home Champions, 3410 FM 1960 West, Houston, Texas 77068. A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Friday, April 3, 2015, in the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home Champions. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in the Macedonia Cemetery, Hockley, Texas.

Audrey Lane Schultz Mabray went home to be with the Lord on April19, 2020 at her earthly home in Houston, Texas. She was 85 years old.

Born in San Antonio, Texas on January 23, 1935, Lane was two years old when her mother Audrey was divorced of Lane’s biological father. Lane was then raised by Audrey, aunts Doris and Carolyn, and Grandmother Josephine Winter in San Antonio. When Lane was 7, Audrey was transferred from Kelly AAF base in San Antonio to San Marcos AAF base; and Audrey and Lane moved to Lockhart, Texas, where they lived for the remainder of WWII. It was there that Audrey met Melin S. “Mel” Schultz of South Dakota, who immediately upon marrying Audrey in 1945, excitedly adopted Lane as his one and only adored child. Following the end of WWII; Mel, Audrey, & Lane moved to Bellaire, Texas. Lane graduated from Mirabeau B. Lamar High School in Houston in 1952.

Lane married Thomas G. Mabray on July 11, 1953. Tom and Lane had 3 sons together – Mark, Mel, and Matt; and raised them in Houston. After Lane and Tom’s divorce, Lane became a residential realtor in 1979. In 1981, Lane moved to Junction, Texas to manage her own 660-acre purebred Limousine cattle and Appaloosa horse ranch.

In the late-1980s, Lane moved back to Houston and restarted her residential real estate career from scratch. Lane then took every course imaginable and tirelessly worked day and night to greatly build her business over the years. While her hard work, engaging personality, and talent bore Lane great success in her field; it was the associated multitude of relationships and lifetime friends borne that gave Lane joy from the fruits of her labor. If she met you once, you were never to be a stranger again or a mere acquaintance; rather, you were likely to become someone who Lane would care about deeply over her remaining lifetime. Her care for these enduring closely built bonds fueled Lane to gladly work well into her 80s. Audrey’s, Mark’s, Mel’s, and Matt’s close friends always became Lane’s close friends. Despite her hard work ethic and deep love for each of her hundreds of friends, Lane’s time and care for her loved and cherished family took priority.

Lane was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother Audrey Schultz Ueckert, father Mel Schultz, stepfather Freeman Ueckert, half-brother Jim Manley, and Cousin Chris Todd. Lane is survived by sons Mark, Mel, and Matthew Mabray; daughters-in-law Elaine and Jennifer Mabray, grandchildren Jackson, Daniel and Audrey Grace Mabray, half-sister Kathleen Gillilan, sister-in-law Patty Schueneman Manley, niece Samantha Manley, and cousins Gary Todd, Susan Tondre, Bonnie Saur, and Melissa Herren.

There will be a family graveside service on Saturday April 25, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the Springer-Macedonia Cemetery, Hockley, TX. The family will celebrate Lane Mabray’s life together with friends and extended family at a memorial service at Kingsland Baptist Church, 20555 Kingsland Blvd., Katy, TX on a day to be determined and announced at a later date.
