Elliott, Dederick “Mike” Woodworth Jr.

Dederick Woodworth Elliott, Jr., 84, of Hockley, Texas passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023. He was born February 9, 1938, to Dederick W. Elliot, Sr. and Elsie Helen Dinkins Elliot in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dederick aka “Mike” graduated from the University of Houston with a BBA and MBA in Business and first worked in Houston, for Hempstead native Roland Sledge, in the Procurement Department of Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Company (Transco) where he was responsible for assisting in the purchase of tens of millions of dollars of tubulars, valves and other equipment for Transco’s natural gas transmission business, which extended from South Louisiana to New York State. He held similar positions with other companies throughout his career. Never caring for his first name, he has been known as “Mike” since college. Mike is preceded in death by his parents and survived by close friends. Graveside Service: Monday, April 17, 2023, at noon at Macedonia Cemetery, Hockley, Texas with Brother Philip “Deke” McWilliams officiating under the direction of McWilliams Funeral Home, Hempstead.

Ensminger, Ray

(September 08, 1955 – November 17, 2009)

Ray Ensminger, age 54 of Hockley, went to be with his Lord on November 17, 2009. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bette Shumaker Ensminger, and step-mother, Marijane Ensminger; and is survived by his wife, Vicki Ensminger; son, Clayton Ensminger; his father, C.M. Ensminger and wife Emily and her four children; and brothers and sisters; Attina Jefferson, Betsy Arriola and husband Jeff, David Northrup and wife Lisa, Polly Ensminger, and Michael Northrup and wife Cindy.

Visitation will be Friday, November 20, 2009, from 5 to 8pm at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 21, 2009, at 10:00am at Canon Funeral Home with Reverend Evelyn Cox officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Ray’s name to the Macedonia United Methodist Church building fund at P.O. Box 235, Hockley, TX 77447

Engledow, Evangeline “Penny” Lloyd

Evangeline “Penny” Engledow, age 81, of Hockley passed away on August 31, 2009. She is survived by her son, James Engledow and wife Cynthia; sisters-in-law, Grace Lloyd and Leona Lloyd; grandchildren, Sheena Engledow and Erika Purser; and great grandchildren, Natalie Purser and Brayden Purser.

Visitation was on Friday, September 4, 2009, from 5 to 8pm at Canon Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, September 5, 2009, at 2pm at Canon Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don White officiating. Interment followed at Macedonia Cemetery.

Penny lived to be 81 years, 4 months and 18 days old.

Erbentraut, Thomas

Our sweet son, brother, uncle and friend was taken to rest with his Father and join the Angels in Heaven on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at 11:18pm. Born Thomas Frank Erbentraut September 27, 1964, in Waupaca, Wisconsin to Edwin Frank Erbentraut and Betty Mae (Schmidt-Erbentraut) Moss. His father preceded his death. Tom is survived by his mother, four siblings, eight nephews, five nieces, and two great-nephews; sister Gerith Sheffer, and her sons Jeremiah and Phillip; sister Jeanne Burton and husband Robert; Jeanne’s children include son Brandon Wilson and wife Agnes, and their son Wyatt; daughter Aubrey Beel and husband Adam; son Ian Wilson and wife Breanna, and their son Grey; sister Rebecca Dawson and husband Micah; Rebecca’s children include daughters Hayley, Lorelei, and Abigail Laughlin, and sons Sean and Justin Dawson; brother Will Moss and wife Danielle; Will’s children include sons Evan and Finn, and daughter Amelia. Tom was an active member of Sagemont Church and a participant in Special Friends. He was known for his childlike charm, his beautiful smile, and his infectious laugh. Tom could talk to anyone about anything. He loved making friends, sharing stories, and being surrounded by his family. Tom’s hobbies were well known by all who loved him. Tom collected sports jerseys, hat pins, watches, belt buckles, and lots of CD’s. His favorite sports included basketball, football, and wrestling. He even enjoyed acting out wrestling moves with his nephews from time to time. Those who knew Tom, all had a special place in their heart for him. He was pure innocence. Please join us in celebrating his life at 3:00pm Sunday, February 16, at Niday Funeral Home, with
visitation prior to the service at 2:30pm. A private burial will be held in Hockley, Texas
