Betty Ann “Memaw” Dement, age 78 of Hockley, passed away October 21, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Mamie Duggan, and three brothers, Bob, Layton, and Elton. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Robert “Bobby” Dement; daughters Denise Robinson and D’Ann Guzman of Hockley; brother Billy Duggan and wife Sue; sister Lee Ella Obar and husband Claud; grandchildren Kimberlea Ward, Courtney Fetzer (Jim), Alyson Macias (Sal), Cole Parker; great grandchildren Jolie Standley, Kiley & Laney Fetzer, Sophie Macias; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. After working 40 years in the construction industry, Betty went on to become a very successful realtor for Keller Williams Northwest. She was an active member of Fair Haven United Methodist Church before moving to Hockley, becoming an even-more active member and treasurer of the Macedonia United Methodist Church. Betty was a very active lady spending countless hours with her daughters in Girl Scouts, Spring Branch Girls Softball Association, Fair Haven Children’s Choir, Northbrook Raider Band Booster; and many other civic organizations. She was a very loving, caring, and giving person having never met a stranger. Without the loving care & support given by medical teams at MD Anderson, and North Cypress Medical Center, Mom wouldn’t have gotten an additional 11 years to share with us all. Thank you, Dr. Dileep Puppala and team for everything, we are forever grateful to you’. We live comforted knowing that our Lord Jesus Christ has received a new angel. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Macedonia United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Friday, October 26, 2018, 5-7 pm followed by Funeral Services Saturday, October 27, 1pm Canon Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Kissel officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia-Springer Cemetery.
