Melvin R. McMillon, 68, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 30, 2015 in Houston, Texas. He was born on April 3, 1946 at Heights Hospital in Houston, Texas to Homer and Mary McMillon. Mel grew up in the Heights, where he played sports, attended North Main Baptist Church and was a member of the Boy’s Club and Boy Scouts of American. He graduated from Reagan High School in 1964 and later attended Massey Business College.
Mel worked for Deluxe Check Printers for 27 years and when the facility closed down in Houston, Mel continued to work several more years in the printing industry at The Premier Company.
Mel loved the Lord, his family and his friends. He was a master gardener and enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, sports, reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Mel was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers Manning and Haskell McMillon. He is survived by his loving wife, Judi McMillon; his son, Darrell McMillon and wife Angie; his grandchildren, Austin, Ashlyn, Alyssa and Dalton McMillon; and other loving relatives and friends.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 until 8pm on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Brookside Funeral Home Champions, 3410 FM 1960 West, Houston, Texas 77068. A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Friday, April 3, 2015, in the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home Champions. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in the Macedonia Cemetery, Hockley, Texas.
