Francis Stewart Love, born August 18, 1922, to James M. and Mattie Dean Love in McNary, Louisiana, passed away March 11, 2010, in Houston, Texas. Dr. Love was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charlie Love, James M. Love, Jr., Eugene Love, George Love, Sr., Albert Damon Love, and Lewis M. Love, and sisters, Lois Love Wagner and Evelyn Love Rooney. He is survived by son, Francis S. Love, Jr.; daughters, Bee Love DeCordova and husband, Bryan, Rachel Love Harmon and husband, Kevin, and Ruth Love; step-son, John Patrick Burke; grandsons, Juston Love, Jordan Love, Stephen DeCordova, and Scott DeCordova; granddaughter, Katie Love; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and other family, and dear special friends, Bettie Bell and Ida Geer.
Dr. Love served his country proudly in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Methodist Church and Oaks Christian Church. Dr. Love was a member and past president of the Harris County Optometric Society, and a member of the Texas Optometric Association. He was a Past Master of Melrose Lodge, his mother lodge, where he was awarded the Master Mason Degree on May 28, 1944, the Golden Trowel Award, and the 65 Year Service Award. Sir Knight Love received the RC and the Malta on February 16, 1957, and the Order of the Temple on February 23, 1957. Dr. Love was also a member of Oak Forest Lodge 1398 where he was Past Master from 2007-2008, received the Golden Trowel Award on June 17, 2002, and became a Life Member on June 24, 2002. Dr. Love was a member of Oak Forest OES 1080, Melrose Commandery 109 where he was a Past Commander, Houston Scottish Rite Bodies, and Arabia Shrine Temple.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Heights Funeral Home. The Funeral Service with Masonic Honors will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, in the Chapel of Heights Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Springer-Macedonia Cemetery, Hockley, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are Bud Love, Juston Love, Jordan Love, Stephen DeCordova, Scott DeCordova, Hank Wagner, Gary Love, and Ted Rooney. Honorary pallbearers are the Masons of Oak Forest Lodge and Melrose Lodge
